Monday Morning Shortstop: Season Recap in Haiku Form

A season recap.
But it’s all in Haiku form.
I hope you enjoy.

Tough season for Cook and his mates (AP/Lenny Ignelzi)

Picked to win the West.
A quite disappointing year.
No division crown.

Garbage on the road.
Mediocre at home.
Not a good record.

De La gets injured.
A tough break for the season.
Rockies had no ace.

Off season pickups.
Ty Wigginton and Lopez.
Both of them were busts.

Traded Ubaldo.
Received prospects in return.
Jury is still out.

Poor Nicasio.
A disastrous broken neck.
On the comeback trail.

A black hole at third.
A position with no pop.
Ian Stewart stunk.

A shaky bullpen
Huston Street gives up big bombs.
Can’t close out big games.

Runners left on base.
Opportunities wasted.
Should have won more games.

Bright spots did exist.
Cargo, Tulo, Helton, Smith.
But it’s a team sport.

No playoffs again.
Another season is lost.
Wait until next year.
